Girls! You are 3.5 now! Yup, we celebrate half birthdays, who doesn’t? We enjoyed this month tremendously! Some great friends graciously gave us their cabin for a week, so we enjoyed some respite in Mammoth, Ca! It was a fun autumn vacation filled with chilly mornings (which daddy loves) and lots of fall color (which mommy loves)!
You two particularly loved the jacuzzi, and it quickly became a tradition to go swim in the “warm square pool” as you called it. We played all kinds of games in that spa! Red Light/Green Light, Daddy Shark, and more! Perhaps my favorite jacuzzi moment came on night two. Gracen, you were nervous about the warm temperature, so you sat with mom on the side for the first 20 minutes. I then asked you to trust me, which you complied. Even though you were nervous and scared, I put you in the spa with me, and you immediately fell in love with the concept! My heart exploded when you said, “I love trusting daddy!”. I hope I can be that trustworthy dad in your life. I just love teaching you new things, even trust.
Our mornings were filled with making pancakes and watching Mickey Mouse, but as soon as that was done, it was off to the van to explore! We went to Convict Lake, Starkweather Lake, Twin Lake (haha), Lake Mary, and walked to Sotcher Lake! Our favorites were Starkweather and Sotcher, because it was off the beaten path. We loved seeing you two figure out what objects would float or sink in the water. You were so amazed that pine cones floated, but rocks sank! It was a fun little lesson.
After all the lake stuff, and after taking 3,000 photos, we would go make lunch and settle down for a rest. Mommy and Daddy enjoyed some rest too (our favorite).
For your half birthday, we took you to Underwood Farms! It’s become quite a tradition as this was our third or fourth time going. It was so sweet watching you pick out a pumpkin for your little brother. You haven’t met him yet, but you love him so much! I can’t wait to introduce you 🙂
I have lots of love for you Gwen and Gracen! Happy 42 months!
