Every Single Month

This has been a busy month for the four of us! I think this was the busiest yet. But with the busyness comes lots of new “firsts”.

First Laugh: August 25
Bout time! We’ve been waiting for this one. On a nice sunny afternoon, Gracen first, then Gwen laughed at mommy and daddy’s 2,500th attempt to get you girls to giggle. It worked, you laughed, we laughed, we then fed you, changed your, and you slept. It’s our thing.

First Conversation: August 28
This one’s a funny one. After one of our Wednesday night youth meetings, we went to pick you up and Grandpa swore Gracen had a full on conversation with him.

First Toy Play: August 28
You guys have a lobster, a zebra, and an octopus….pretty sure you’re going to want to be zoologists when you grow up.

Besides these firsts we also had our first vacation! If hashtags even exist when you girls get older, search #hartleysinmammoth. It was so beautiful, and you girls did great! We rode gondolas to the top of Mt. Mammoth, and shielded you from the winds. This was the perfect vacation, and mommy and I enjoyed loving on you. We also toured some of the lakes, and you girls did so good in your Baby Stomach Holder Thingies!

Moving on to what you girls like. According to mommy, Gwen…you love being read to! Gracen…you love that octopus! It has 8 cool little thing-a-mobbers for you to play with. You like leg 4 (the mirror). Maybe that’s because you’re a girl.

You girls are getting so good at tummy time! You went from hating it, to tolerating it, to loving it! You girls are getting big and strong! You girls also love to make bubbles, and watch baseball. Mommy thinks I may be forcing you to like baseball, but I think she’s forcing you to love Sesame Street…so we’re even.

You also went to help me perform my first wedding in Carpinteria! Congrats Matt and Sarah Nixon! Ok, when I say helped, I speak in relative terms. But, you girls continue to do so well when away from home! I can’t wait for the many road trips I;ll be taking you on.

We’re so in love with you Gwen and Gracen. Thanks for the busy month 5, it was one to remember. I think I might bake you half a cake for your half-year birthday…but I can only use milk, because that’s all you eat.

I can’t believe you’ll be half a year old in 30 days!
